When browsing the Swedish buy- and sell site Blocket.com I came across this rare Mazda Wankel. The car has the original 12a engine and seems to be in great condition. My one concern though is that the car has got more than 150 000 km (93,205 miles), which seems like way too much for an old wankel carburated engine. Let's just hope that it's been well kept ;).
Here are some Mazda RX-2 stats:
0-62/0-100 - Couldn't find
113 bhp at 6500 rmp
116 lb ft of torque/157 lb ft of torque
The RX in Mazda's RX series stands for rotary experimental, a rotary engine uses a rotor instead of the conventional pistons which makes it vibration-free and gives it high hp/litre. Development of the rotary engine was almost single-handedly led by Mazda (there was also some cars by the Russian Lada company), which made the development process very slow. Nowadays rumors circle every now and then of a new rotary-powered car, but ever since the Mazda seized production of the RX-8 in 2011, there have been no rotary cars on the market.
